The company, which had around 170 employees, was forced to cut costs due to significant financial losses and an inability to secure new funding. This move follows aggressive hiring earlier in the year in anticipation of investment that never materialized, leading to rescinded job offers for new hires as well. The layoffs, occurring in mid-2022 amid a broader economic downturn, affected various departments including sales, operations, and tech. Backed by Accel and other investors, Breathe Well-being highlights the challenges faced by startups in sustaining growth without continuous capital infusion.
