Lucid Group announced on Monday that it is cutting its U.S. workforce by approximately 18% as part of a cost-savings plan expected to yield annualized savings of about $158 million. The layoffs affect full-time employees, contractors, and hourly production workers in manufacturing. Additionally, COO Marc Winterhoff is leaving immediately, and the COO role has been eliminated. The automaker had about 9,000 employees globally as of December 31. This follows a 12% workforce reduction in February. Lucid cited the need to align production with demand, reduce inventory, and adapt to declining market conditions. The company also plans to eliminate the second shift at its Arizona factory. Lucid lost $2.7 billion on $1.35 billion revenue in 2025 and faces a challenging EV market with slower adoption and regulatory changes.
